How does the role impact the organization?
The AVP, Wealth Planning & Tax Consulting is a senior member of our Wealth Solutions team that is dedicated to delivering an elevated level of service to supporting our advisory teams and their client families. This role is ideal for someone who has significant experience working with high-net worth (HNW) Canadian families, families with multi-jurisdiction considerations, small business owners, and clients who are experiencing a large monetization/other transfer event. As well, this role will have selected oversight responsibilities for all planning team members with respect to planning and thought leadership functions.

What will your role be responsible for?
- Analyzes, prepares, and presents comprehensive planning strategies and technical planning communications for HNW clients.
- Collaborates with other Wealth Solutions business units (Insurance Solutions, Estate & Trust Solutions, and Charitable Giving) to position comprehensive planning solutions to meet client specific needs.
- Acts as a subject matter expert and champion for tax and financial planning as a key deliverable for Wealth Solutions.
- Promotes and encourages Financial Advisors to incorporate tax and financial planning into their practice.
- Provides ongoing professional tax and financial planning consultation on complex strategies to advisors and clients.
- Prepares and facilitates the development of thought leadership, presentations, and seminars on various tax and financial planning topics.
- Remains current on all tax and financial planning related topics.
- Identifies opportunities to deepen relationships and drive business results.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with internal advisory teams and Centers of Influence.
- Participates actively in team learning, development, and compliance activities to meet team performance goals.

Qualifications:
- Public practice tax planning experience in relation to corporate tax planning and strategies.
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian financial planning, and its key concepts.
- U.S. financial planning background is an asset.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in French is an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of all Canadian investment solution structures and accounts, and their respective income tax and succession law considerations.
- Exceptional etiquette and client service skills including experience in face-to-face, videoconferencing, and telephone scenarios. Potential scenarios include:
- Identifying client opportunities and providing potential solutions to client challenges throughout the planning process that align with goals-based planning.
- Strong, confident presentation skills.
- Demonstrating sound judgement and collaboration
- Excellent time management, organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills, including the ability to:
- Juggle competing deadlines in a high-volume and demanding environment while maintaining an attention to detail.
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- professionalism and discretion in the handling of client private, confidential information and collaborating with their other professional advisors (tax and legal).
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
- University degree with a focus on business and/or finance
- Minimum of 5 years of practical, client facing experience as a financial planner in the wealth management industry.
- Accredited Financial Planning designation such as CFP, R.F.P., or equivalent (IQPF applicable for Quebec)
- Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP)
- Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and/or Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)
- JD, or LL.M
- Canadian Securities Course
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Grow professionally and inspire fellow team members to do the same.
- Work with and through others to deliver an exceptional client experience and planning deliverables.
- Contribute to the continuous growth, and evolution of RJL. We are only going to get better.
