Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Examine claims forms, policies, client instructions and other documents to determine coverage.
- Reviews complex financial data, inventories, contracts, quotes, estimates and other documents and
- apply sound adjusting techniques to determine loss amounts as covered by the applicable policy.
- Visit insured to investigate cause, circumstances, and the extent of damage.
- Review policy coverage and raise questions where appropriate with insurers.
- Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with claimant and witnesses regarding claim.
- Ability to maintain diary and respond to stakeholder inquiries in timely and professional fashion.
- Consults police and hospital records and inspects property damage to determine extent of
- company's liability and varying methods of investigation according to type of insurance.
- Liaise with insured and insurer, broker, engaged experts, and control claim costs.
- Assists in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculates adequate
- future rates.
- Prepares reports from our proprietary claims system by collecting and summarizing information
- required by client, local, Provincial, and Fe deral government and by McLarens.
- Some experience in the management of an assisting team or individual adjusters.
- Recommends litigation or subrogation when appropriate.
- Show the ability to start to develop accounts.
- Maintain the appropriate licenses as required by the various Provincial Regulators.
- Perform other duties as instructed by their Director of Operations (DOO).
- 5-8 years of commercial property and Commercial General Liability claims experience.
- Post Secondary degree (College or University).
- CIP, FCIP, CRM or other industry specific designation.
- Appropriate Provincial adjuster license(s).
- Experience handling complex commercial losses.
- Established Broker/Carrier relationships.
- Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business to include familiarity with local
- jurisdictional requirements and claim practices.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritize
