Overview
WildBrain Studios is seeking a Desktop Support team member to join our Technology Services team. In this hands-on role, you’ll support our artists, animators, and production staff by maintaining and optimizing Linux-based workstations critical to our animation pipelines. You will be the first line of defense for technical issues, ensuring that our creative teams experience minimal disruption and maximum performance on both Linux and Windows.

Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You’ll Do:
- Provide Tier 1 and 2 support for Linux and Windows desktop systems used in production. Diagnose and resolve hardware, OS, software, and peripheral issues efficiently and with minimal impact on user workflows.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain Linux and win desktops, ensuring compliance with studio standards. Apply OS patches, software updates, and security fixes using Foreman for centralized package management.
- Support and troubleshoot production-critical applications such as Maya, Blender, Houdini, Nuke, etc... Collaborate with pipeline TDs and software teams to verify software compatibility and performance.
- Deliver responsive support for login issues, system hangs, display problems, and software misconfigurations. Educate users on basic troubleshooting practices and best use of systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of workstation configurations, deployment procedures, and resolved incidents. Identify recurring issues and escalate as needed.
- Work closely with Systems Administrators, IT Helpdesk, and Network Engineering to ensure a consistent, reliable user experience across studio environments.
- Use ServiceNow to track, triage, and document support incidents and requests, ensuring timely resolution and detailed audit trails.
- Proven experience supporting Linux desktop environments (preferably RedHat, Rocky Linux) in a fast-paced production setting.
- Proven experience supporting Windows 10 / 11 environments.
- Familiarity with animation, VFX, or 3D software (Maya, Blender, Houdini, Nuke, SBP, Harmony, unreal, Perforce, and Adobe).
- Strong understanding of desktop hardware, including GPU/CPU performance considerations for creative workloads.
- Experience with Foreman for centralized system provisioning, patching, and configuration management.
- Experience with MDT for system provisioning.
- Solid foundation in network troubleshooting—wired/wireless, DNS, DHCP, and VPN access.
- Familiarity with LDAP/SSO authentication, shared storage (NFS, SMB).
- Clear communication skills with a calm, professional demeanor when resolving user-facing issues.
- Ability to juggle multiple tickets in ServiceNow while maintaining documentation and follow-up.
- Experience supporting Wacom tablets, color calibration tools, and high-resolution multi-monitor setups.
- Exposure to asset management platforms (Snipe-IT, Lansweeper).
- Familiarity with studio-standard infrastructure such as Pixit Media, Qumulo, or Isilon is a plus.
- Basic scripting (Bash or Python) for automation.
