You As a Commercial Estimator Will
- Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure while building strong relationships with sub-trades
- Assemble accurate, timely and well organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build
- Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process
- Distribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
- Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference
- Oversee prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s
- Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders, specifically sub trade contractors
- Recognizes risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule, and market conditions /constraints
- Completes full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials for medium to- large scopes
- Establishes a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines for projects
- You have five to seven years of Buildings Construction estimating experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
- You have a working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create and maintain strong relationships, strong communication skills, and attention to detail; as well as the ability to work effectively and accurately in time sensitive situations within a team
- Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc. is essential
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents,
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create and maintain strong relationships,
- Strong communication skills
