Trinity Communications Services (a subsidiary of Bird Construction) is a diversified Inside and Outside Plant infrastructure build contractor, servicing major telecommunication and utility companies all across Ontario. With a reputation for standards unparalleled in the industry, and a strong presence in the GTA for the last 35 years, Trinity is looking to add a Commercial Installation Technician to its growing team.

The Commercial Installation Technician provides Cable TV and Hi-Speed Internet and digital phone service to commercial customers. The Technician typically works Monday to Friday, but may occasionally service our commercial customers during off hours and/or weekends.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Plan and execute a routing of cable from an exterior or interior signal source and perform installation of necessary TV or internet services to commercial accounts.
  • Install and trouble shoot all models of Rogers Cable Digital Boxes.
  • Install and trouble shoot Rogers Cable High Speed Modems.
  • Install and trouble shoot Rogers Cable Telephone Modems.
  • Install and troubleshoot Rogers cable Managed Routers.
  • Install and trouble shoot Cat 3, 5, 5e, 6 RG6, RG11, and Flex 500 cables.
  • Install and trouble shoot telephone lines and jacks.
  • Inspect and test operation of telecommunications equipment.
  • Diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment.
  • Operate computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment.
  • Determine the nature, cause and location of service trouble.
  • May assist repair personnel to test lines, circuits and systems, isolate and clear cable faults and verify records.
  • Splice and repair various types and sizes of telephone and other telecommunication cables including single line, coaxial and fibre optic.
  • Inspect and test telecommunication transmission lines and cables for transmission characteristics and to locate faults.
  • Analyze and record test results.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of materials, modems and digital boxes in the vehicle at all times.
  • Regular maintenance of work vehicle to ensure its proper working condition.
  • Keep within Rogers Cable Key Performance Indicators.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with our customers.
  • Will perform all other duties as required by departmental manager.


What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience with telecommunications, security or communications is considered an asset.
  • Ability to carry and climb a twenty-eight-foot extension ladder weighing 65lbs.
  • Ability to regularly carry equipment in excess of 50lbs (toolbox, cabling etc).
  • Ability to comfortably perform work tasks while working at various heights.
  • A strong and demonstratable commitment to safety.
  • Superior listening and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently as required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean drivers abstract.
