Job Description:
Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a Software Engineer with 5+ years’ experience in a heavy automation and system engineering testing environment using Java, Python, VB, C#, and Postgres SQL, to place at our client, a Global Agricultural company.
Contract: Long term contract (multiple years)
Location: Saskatoon, SK
Schedule: Full time, 2-3 days onsite per week
Start Date: ASAP
Role Overview:
The Software Engineer is a crucial part of our IT team, working on high-impact projects that require technical expertise and innovation. Operating in an Agile environment, the Software Engineer will develop scalable software solutions and systems integrations to address complex business challenges. They will also be heavily involved in automation testing for a new software being developed by the client and support its 24/7 functionality. Candidates with experience working in the agricultural industry highly desired.

- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications and systems integrations.
- Implement robust and scalable software solutions that align with best practices and fulfill the clients business objectives.
- Conduct software testing and debugging to ensure optimal functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to provide clear technical guidance and recommendations.
- Design and develop scalable software solutions using Python and object-oriented design principles.
- Utilize databases (ex. PostgreSQL) for robust and efficient data management.
- Develop applications using GUI frameworks such as PyQt.
- Perform unit testing, debugging, and optimize memory usage in multithreaded programming environments.
- Engage in shell scripting and Linux development to support operations.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance project delivery and ensure seamless integration across systems.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize projects and requirements.
- Understanding of automation systems and how they integrate within an operational network.
- Experience with machine learning models and their implementation in software solutions.
- Knowledge of Radar and Lidar sensor technologies and their applications in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to design more effective and efficient software solutions.
- Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with proficiency in coding languages such as Java, Python, Visual Basic, C#, or C++.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, architectures, and best practices.
- Experience with Version Control systems like Git, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to articulate technical concepts to a business audience and drive alignment on software solutions.
- Proven track record of successful software project delivery in a team environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
