Telecon is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our growing Civil Team! This is a field position/on the road.

Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the General Labourer will assist the Civil Team with the installation of telecommunications infrastructure (buried cable, wire, or ducts) for various projects.

This is a unionized General Labourer position with LiUNA Local 527 based out of our construction yard on Carp Road. The wage for this opportunity is currently $31.12 per hour.

The position is available immediately and requires Full-Time availability Monday to Friday.

You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Able to diagnose and locate cable faults and replace or repair Telecommunications cables
• Digging holes and trenches
• Able to frequently use tools such as shovels
• Able to complete landscaping restoration work
• Aid with general site preparation and clean-up as directed
• Safely loading and unloading vehicles with supplies and equipment as directed
• Able to run gas and power equipment (i.e., saws, drills, jumping jacks)
• Assist with the removal of debris from work sites
• Assist with traffic control as directed
• Able to assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards
• Ability to solve problems and perform well under pressure and time constraints
• Other duties as required
  
  

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Construction or landscaping industry experience – buried utilities
• Civil, Electric/Electronics or any other related fields
• Must have a valid “G” Driver’s License or equivalent and a good driver’s abstract
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions year long
• Must be able to work on some Weekends and Overtime when required
• Must be proficient in internet and email usage, and able to learn new software quickly
• Good verbal command of the English Language and great communication skills
• Must be able to safely lift 80 lbs.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Well-groomed and maintain continued professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must maintain prompt and consistent attendance to include arrival times for work on job assignments.
• Must be willing to complete an online criminal record check to the company’s satisfaction
