Geosyntec has an exciting temporary opportunity for a Graphic Designer in our Waterloo, Cambridge or Guelph offices. This is an 18-month position. As a member of the corporate marketing group, works closely with senior designers and managers produce design concepts. Produces high quality graphics for technical reports and day to day workflow of marketing collateral along with idea generation and execution of design concepts as directed. Keeps up to date with the latest design methods and trends. Applies “best practices” tools, processes and formats to ensure effective, consistent graphics follow the design standards established within the firm. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven position and focuses on the production of high-quality graphics.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the performance of the following activities:
- Execute design concepts efficiently;
- Help prepare files for print;
- Assist with art/production/design projects as required;
- Source photos/images;
- Help format Microsoft PowerPoint presentations as necessary;
- Produce technical graphics for reports;
- Assist in the development and application of templates to format documents
- Use templates created by Senior Graphic Designers to format documents;
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, experiment, learn and grow creatively; and
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Work with design templates for graphic applications such as collateral material, trade show graphics, brochures, magazine and digital ads, announcements, invitations, fliers, etc.;
- Execute design concepts and apply the corporate brand elements for the Geosyntec Family of Companies efficiently to maintain overall consistency;
- Prepare files for print (along with delivery, and proofing);
- Understand and work with the corporate brand elements for the Geosyntec Family of Companies;
- Create, modify, size, edit, and color-correct graphics, images; and
- Able to work on deadlines independently and work well within the guidelines established by the marketing group.
- College Diploma or Associate degree from a recognized design institution, Bachelor’s degree or a college diploma/ associate degree with two (2) years of experience. (required)
- Proficiency with the Macintosh platform, with knowledge of a PC platform, along with full working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat. Illustration skills are encouraged but not necessary. (required)
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. (required)
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret marketing, technical, and other business documents. Ability to quality-check materials that are organized, clearly presented and further the Geosyntec “brand”. Ability to communicate with internal clients on graphics. (required)
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to understand design methods and trends with the goal of creating and editing visual content to develop and implement brand-building initiatives. (required)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks in written, oral, or diagram form. (required)
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. (required)
