Overvie
wMechanical Engineer III is responsible for designing and developing robust and innovative medical devices and equipment to support the commercialization of company developed products. The responsibilities include cost estimation, design, verification, and validation. Device and equipment design includes active and passive electromechanical structures and mechanisms with various degrees of freedom

Responsibiliti
es• Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibili
ty• Develop and test new manufacturing process
es• Work closely with electrical and software engineers, designing with system-wide perspecti
ve• Interact with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectivene
ss• Specify and manage tool developme
nt• Create and release product requirements, design specifications and design descriptions for assigned projects, as required by applicable medical device standards and internal procedur
es• Follow all policies, procedures, and standards for engineering documentation to ensure compliance with corporate document management poli
cy• Review product documentation for accuracy including documentation intended for customer u
se• Participate in all designing, prototyping, testing and qualification of mechanical designs for high-reliability and high-performance medical devic
es• Participate in or support risk assessment, design reviews, pre-production, pilot production, testing, and regulatory submissi
on• Support production activities and resolve issues quick
ly• Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications through advanced analytical and problem-solving techniqu

Qualificati
ons• 5+ years of technical product or mechanical device design and manufactur
ing• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; Masters prefer
red• P.Eng from the EGBC preferred; ability and willingness to obtain a P.Eng license requi
red• Experience with plastic injection mold tool design including injection molding, insert molding, and over-mold
ing• Excellent knowledge of and ability to use SolidWorks and SolidWorks add-
ins• Experience in all areas of design, prototyping, testing and qualificat
ion• Proven skills in developing projects in a medical device R&D departm
ent• Ability to define project goals and delivery dates to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environm
ent• Experience in technical team-focused workpl
ace• Can make independent judgments using sound engineering principles and techniq
ues• Ability to write concisely and accurately with meticulous attention to detail and clar
ity
