Position Overview

Under the direction of the Restaurant Manager or Shift Supervisor, the Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and seating guests within the restaurant in a timely manner. Emphasis must be placed on exceptional customer service as the Host-Hostess in many instances will be the first contact that our customers will have with an employee. All necessary precautions are required to ensure the safety and health of customers and ensure that safe work practices are adhered to at all time. Other responsibilities include assisting the Restaurant Manager, Supervisor(s) and Servers in areas when and where required.

Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Provide excellent guest service consistent with Company's core service standards and brand attributes.
  • Review all daily specials and promotions.
  • Be aware of menu items, menu prices and hours of operation.
  • Monitor and assign seating in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all guests and all staff
  • Must always present themselves in a clean neat uniform.
  • Must always maintain proper hygiene and grooming.
  • Communicate to the restaurant Manager or designate any issues that may require assistance to remedy.

Education And Experience

  • A valid Alberta Pro Serve Certification.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a large volume, high paced foodservice operation dealing in a customer service capacity.
  • Experience working with POS systems is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and strong verbal and written communication skills to promote and deliver impeccable service and standards at all times.
  • Organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team oriented environment, and be able to function independently also.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding area and be familiar with a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Must be available for shift-work and be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to Scents/Perfumes.
  • May require lifting weight of up to approximately 50 lbs.
