Some of what you will do:

The Manager of Strategic Planning will report to the Sr. Director of FP&A (Sales and Margin) and play a pivotal role in shaping our business’s future vision. This position involves driving company strategy, providing real-time forecasts and analytics to empower executive decision-making, and guiding the organization toward achieving its strategic objectives. The ideal candidate possesses not only strong technical skills but also excellent interpersonal abilities, enabling effective communication and influence across all levels of the organization.

Additionally, the Manager will collaborate closely with the Merchandising and Services teams. Their responsibilities include supporting strategic initiatives, evaluating partnership opportunities, prioritizing resources, formulating business cases, and preparing the annual budget, forecasts, and long-range plans. The Manager will synthesize market trends and insights to inform our strategic direction, oversee finance work streams, and collaborate with other finance teams to execute initiatives seamlessly.

Specifically, You Will

  • Work closely with the Merchandising and Services teams to develop strategic multi-year plans that align with our overall business strategy and long-term objectives.
  • Create, review, and maintain comprehensive financial models for new projects and initiatives. Understand the individual performance drivers and levers through scenario analysis.
  • Evaluate financial and operational risks associated with strategic initiatives. Ensure that risk factors are considered in decision-making processes.
  • Consolidate business cases and assist senior executives in Capital prioritization process and evaluating initiatives that align with company core objectives and values.
  • Take an active role in preparing the annual budget, forecasts, and long-range plans related to new business initiatives.
  • Lead finance due diligence efforts, including reviewing and implementing technical and financial terms, such as providing guidance to other finance teams on accounting/subledger system implementation and GL/journal entry set-up.
  • Support key diligence work streams and advise other finance teams on proper transaction recording. Provide the necessary business context to understand changes in results.
  • Conduct post-investment reviews of projects, comparing actual results to approved economics and KPIs. Identify opportunities for improvements or course corrections.

Some Of What You Need

  • University degree (B.A.) with commerce/business administration focus or equivalent in work experience is required.
  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or MBA preferred.
  • Exceptional financial analytical ability skills preferably developed in a retail environment.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and SQL are strong assets, but not required.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in finance role, with a focus in budgeting and planning, financial analysis.
  • Experience in retail, particularly multiple-location/national and multi-channel retail is an asset.
