Logistics Coordinator, Rail , Burnaby , British Columbia

What We Offer
Interfor has posted the following expected salary range that the company believes in good faith could be offered to successful candidates. The salary offered is benchmarked to current market conditions and will also be based on numerous factors which can include work experience, skills, credentials, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive a competitive benefits package and be able to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Bonus plan, with the payout amount subject to individual and corporate performance. If you have any questions regarding our salary range or our total compensation package, our recruitment team will be happy to advise you on what you can expect from us.
Expected range: $62,000 to $85,000 (CAD) per year

When you join our team as a Logistics Coordinator, Rail , you will be responsible for the shipments from our various operations in both Canada and the US while providing value to our customers through on-time delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Manage end-to-end rail process including ordering railcars, billing loaded cars, tracking in transit shipments, and troubleshooting billing and other freight issues.
- Coordinate volumes scheduled for shipment to external reload locations, inventory at the reloads and outbound on time shipments to customers.
- Work closely with Manager, Rail logistics to ensure adequate transportation capacity is secured to meet forward order fulfilment and delivery requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the sales department, production planners, and mills to optimize shipments and ensure customers’ needs are met.
- Work with railroads and short lines to ensure equipment requirements are met.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders in sales and operations availability of inbound empty equipment and troubleshoot problems and/or delays.
- Assist in maintaining rate quotes, routes, and freight optimization for destination inquiries from the Sales team.
- Monitor daily railroad EDI billing activity to identify and communicate any issues.
- Set-up and maintain freight vendors, Geo-Area Locations and Customer Ship-To Addresses in ERP system.
- Monitor inventory levels at reload and external storage locations, perform weekly inventory reconciliation, and promptly address and resolve any discrepancies.
- Processing of freight payables and troubleshooting billing as required.
- Assist in implementing quality delivery initiatives and processes that support Interfor’s core values.
- Demonstrate awareness of customers’ needs and establish policies and practices to effectively meet those needs through practicable and feasible solutions.
- Degree in Logistics, Business Administration or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of rail logistics experience.
- Truck experience or exposure highly preferred.
- Experience with TMS and ERP systems considered an asset.
- Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate clear and concise information in an accurate, informative, and professional manner.
- Ability to multi-task, deal with interruptions and meet multiple demands.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet and work under tight deadlines.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions to challenging situations.
- Ability to maintain effective communication with internal customers, reloads, carriers and transportation service providers.
- Self-motivated with ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
