Your Opportunity
- Design, develop, and implement high-performance bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines for analyzing NGS data, including read processing, alignment, variant calling, quality control and reporting
- Conduct all aspects of algorithm and pipeline development work including design, implementation, testing, verification, and continuous optimization to ensure accuracy, efficiency and scalability
- Collaborate with biologists, data scientists, and other software engineers to understand the specific requirements, constraints and other Roche systems to ensure seamless communication and integration
- Support internal users, evaluate use cases, propose, evaluate and implement solutions
- Create documentation for algorithms and workflows, visualization of data and present across teams to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure reproducibility
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and learning within the team
- You have a Master or higher degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics or other quantitative fields
- You have over 6 years of experience in Bioinformatics
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and/or C++ with proven experience in developing bioinformatics algorithms for NGS data analysis
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and libraries
- Hands-on experience with workflow management systems such as Nextflow, WDL, etc., and proficiency with microservices architecture including the use of Docker and container orchestration
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience with software development tools such as Github, PyTest, CI/CD etc
- Experience with cloud infrastructure AWS, Google Cloud is a plus
- experience with GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL) and optimizing bioinformatics workflows for GPU acceleration.
