Role Summary:
NearSource is looking for an experienced API Documentation Specialist to standardize and transform internal technical content into a scalable Confluence-based knowledge base. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering and DevRel teams to enhance the clarity, consistency, and accessibility of REST and GraphQL API documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and consolidate internal technical documentation across REST and GraphQL APIs
- Migrate vetted documentation into a unified Confluence structure for scalable access
- Partner with subject matter experts to resolve conflicts and establish authoritative sources
- Leverage GPT-based tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to rewrite and refine documentation with a consistent voice
- Develop reusable templates for core content types, including API overviews, integration guides, and policy references
- Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with engineering teams to address them
- Maintain alignment with project leads through structured updates and checkpoints
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing or API documentation strategy
- In-depth knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs
- Demonstrated use of GPT tools for documentation rewriting or content creation
- Proficient with Confluence and GitHub-based documentation workflows
- Exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to operate autonomously while ensuring stakeholder alignment
- Experience with OpenAPI/Stoplight specifications
- Background in supporting internal platform or integration teams
- Familiarity with developer onboarding frameworks and self-service models
- Comfortable working across asynchronous, distributed teams
- Exposure to Slack bot integrations or Slack-based automation platforms
