Sr. Project Manager - Laboratory Information System (LIS) - #451518

Our healthcare client is undertaking a strategic initiative to replace its current Laboratory Information System (LIS) with a modern, integrated solution to enhance laboratory workflows, ensure interoperability across sites, and support timely and accurate diagnostics. This major transformation will impact multiple departments, systems, and facilities. The Senior Project Manager (REMOTE contract) will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of the LIS replacement project in collaboration with clinical, technical, and vendor stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall project lifecycle for the LIS replacement, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and resource allocations
- Coordinate and engage with clinical lab teams, IT specialists, system vendors, and executive stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals
- Oversee procurement processes, vendor selection, and contract compliance
- Facilitate system design, data migration, integration, testing, validation, and implementation activities
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as needed
- Ensure change management, training, and user adoption strategies are developed and executed effectively
- Monitor and report on project progress, budget variances, and milestone achievements to senior leadership
- Manage multiple workstreams in parallel, including interfacing with existing enterprise systems such as EHRs, middleware, and reporting platforms
- Ensure compliance with privacy, security, accreditation, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive experience in project and program management, including leadership of large-scale health information system implementations
- 3+ years of experience managing LIS projects or other clinical/laboratory technology initiatives
- Proven track record managing capital or enterprise-scale healthcare IT projects involving multiple stakeholders and vendors
- Strong knowledge of laboratory workflows, diagnostic processes, and clinical integration requirements
- Experience leading system replacement or modernization projects, including legacy system decommissioning and data migration
- PMP preferred
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex, fast-paced healthcare environment
