Compensation: $130,000 - $135,000 + Benefits and bonus

The Role

As a Property Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting and operational accounting for a portfolio of residential properties. You will manage a team of accountants, ensuring accurate financials, compliance with industry standards, and continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of property accounting.



Key Responsibilities



Financial Reporting & Property Accounting

• Oversee full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, variance analyses, and property performance reports.
• Manage general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, industry standards, and accounting regulations.
  
  

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis

• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for all properties within the portfolio.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to optimize operational efficiency.
• Analyze financial trends, cash flows, and operational costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  
  

Yardi & Systems Management

• Oversee the use of Yardi for financial reporting, property accounting, and lease administration.
• Work closely with IT and operations to improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiencies.
  
  

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Manage and mentor a team of property accountants, providing training and development opportunities.
• Implement best practices to improve financial reporting efficiency and overall accounting operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including asset management, leasing, and operations.
  
  

Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the primary accounting contact for internal leadership, external auditors, and property managers.
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership and external investors.
• Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial data shared with key stakeholders.
  
  

What You Bring



Experience & Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience in property accounting, asset management, or real estate finance.
• Strong knowledge of residential real estate accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Yardi Voyager and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling).
• CPA designation preferred (or in final stages of completion).
• Audit firm experience is an asset.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring a team in a property accounting function.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
