Position Details
Office of the Chief Information Officer – Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
Reporting to the Manager of Partnerships, the Training Officer is accountable for the planning, development, delivery, evaluation, and implementation of IT staff development and training programs for the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and across government (when applicable). This role is accountable for ensuring that staff are equipped to effectively utilize new technologies, aligning training initiatives with OCIO's modernization and transformation goals. Key responsibilities include:
Training Development & Delivery: Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on the development of new IT training requirements and materials, coordinating and delivering technical training, and supporting the ongoing operation of OCIO IT training and awareness programs.
Microsoft 365: Focusing on the development of training materials and the delivery of education sessions for Microsoft 365 (M365) applications, with an emphasis on Microsoft Teams and its integration with other M365 tools, to enhance collaboration, productivity, and user adoption.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaising with staff and management to assess training needs, identify opportunities for external training related to new technologies, and recommend in-house or online resources to meet the evolving learning requirements of staff.
Training Materials & Documentation: Drafting instructional materials, manuals, training videos, and other relevant documentation to support staff development.
Continuous Improvement: Updating training programs to keep current with technology trends and ensuring alignment with the OCIO’s modernization goals.
Project Support: Coordinating IT training for successful project implementations, where applicable, and leading training activities to drive technology adoption.
External Collaboration: Coordinating and procuring external IT training as necessary, ensuring programs meet both internal and cross-governmental training needs. This role plays a critical part in supporting the seamless adoption of new technologies within the OCIO, ensuring that staff have the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in an evolving digital landscape.
Screening Criteria
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in Business, Arts, Healthcare, or related field (Equivalencies will be considered)
- Experience in the design and development of training programs using development software such as Articulate 360.
- Experience in the delivery of training programs
- Knowledgeable in IT trends in staff development and training
