We are looking for a Strategic Business Partner to join our Business Planning and Performance team! As a key member of the Deputy City Manager's Office, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Edmonton's Integrated Infrastructure Services.
You will partner in the development of department/branch business strategies/plans in alignment with the City’s Strategic Planning Framework.

Up to 1 Permanent Full-time position
Hours of Work: 33.75 Hours per week
Salary Range: $48.767 - $61.623 Hourly; 85,915 - 108,564 Annually
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.

What will you do?
- Contribute to the development and refinement of corporate methodologies, templates, and tools to support strategy and business planning, policy formulation, performance management, risk assessment, and budget planning
- Partner in the development of department/branch business strategies/plans and ensure alignment with the City’s Strategic Planning Framework
- Lead and facilitate the process for the department and branches to use for business planning, translating the corporate direction into actionable plans
- Monitor and prepare regular reporting for a variety of functions, including progress towards identified goals and outcomes, and the annual review of Branch Action Plans and the Department Business Plan
- Facilitate the provision of information and data, determining the best method of reporting to meet the needs of decision-makers
- Develop, implement, and measure department performance measures, in alignment with corporate frameworks for long-term evaluation and improvement
- Review and adjust measures to ensure alignment with strategic/business plans
- Work with the department and/or branches to ensure performance measures are meaningful and aligned with objectives
- Facilitate the process for implementation, alignment, and integration of the strategic and corporate plans
- Collaborate and work with Finance to align department strategy and business planning to the budget process
- Incorporate budget, risk, and performance management into department and branch planning within the City’s Strategic Planning Framework
- Review and align the department's strategic and business plans to impact Corporate goals, strategies, plans, and Council priorities
- Perform other related duties as required
- A degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Public Administration, Planning, Humanities or a related discipline
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of strategic and operational business planning, risk management, enterprise performance measurement, understanding and interpreting financial data, and business case development
- Considerable knowledge and experience in strategic and business planning, the business planning cycle, and process
- Considerable knowledge and experience developing, managing and/or working with performance measures, linkages to the general budget, strategic and business plan
- Considerable knowledge and experience developing, managing and/or working with risks, linkages to the general budget, strategic and business plans
- Considerable knowledge of strategic and business planning principles, policy development and benchmarking and procedures for alignment of performance measures with the department’s business plan goals
- Significant knowledge of corporate priorities, strategies and initiatives and associated timelines associated with the corporate reporting processes/protocols
- Significant skill and ability in project and process management including the ability to effectively gather, synthesize, and analyze data
- Experience and skill in the use of analytics, and data intelligence to support decision-making processes
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions of an advanced nature and ability to express complex ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively, verbally and in written format
- Ability to integrate strategic planning into operational practice
- Skills and expertise leading integrated interdisciplinary teams with demonstrated results in collaborative business strategy development
- Ability to assertively build effective working relationships with all levels of management, and demonstrate comfort working with and advising senior leaders
- Ability to communicate, facilitate, negotiate, and build consensus with people at varying levels

- Leadership, facilitation, and project management experience within a public sector environment
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 Collective Agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
