Profile
The Aerial Firefighter Ground Instructor is responsible for delivering high-caliber theoretical and practical training to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada customers on the following aircraft: CL-215T, CL-415, and DHC-515. This includes Maintenance theoretical and practical training, and Pilot theoretical training (aircraft systems and avionics).
The instructor will cater to maintenance personnel and pilots with varied experience levels, ensuring training meets De Havilland Aviation Training standards, client needs, and all regulatory requirements. De Havilland Aviation Training is a significant global presence in aerial firefighter training, and the successful candidate will leverage their resourcefulness and creativity to deliver training in classrooms, cockpit procedure trainers, and/or aircraft. They must be adaptable to new and unexpected challenges in the training environment.
Furthermore, the Aerial Firefighter Ground Instructor will support the Person Responsible for Training (PRT) and the Training Manager in the design and continuous development of existing and new aerial firefighter training curricula.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily training operations to meet internal and external customer expectations.
- Understand client mission requirements and develop creative training solutions to support them.
- Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in addressing dynamic and challenging situations.
- Conduct training according to approved Policy Manual (PM) and Maintenance Training Organization Exposition (MTOE) procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of Transport Canada and EASA aviation regulations relevant to instructor and maintenance certifying staff roles.
- Conduct risk analysis for training operations and participate in De Havilland Aviation Training Safety Management System (SMS) reviews.
- Maintain a focus on continuous improvement in training delivery and materials.
- Support accident/incident/hazard investigations as required.
- Provide world-class training that aligns with De Havilland Aviation Training service standards.
- Perform other service-related duties for De Havilland Aviation Training/De Havilland Aircraft of Canada customers as needed.
- Ensure classroom and cockpit procedure trainer facilities are maintained in a state of readiness that meets De Havilland Aviation Training standards.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including ground school logs, tracking sheets, SMS reports, training records, and financial reports.
- Support and implement De Havilland Aviation Training's strategic and business objectives.
- Contribute positively to the company culture, growth, and strategic direction.
- Attend and actively participate in professional and instructor development programs.
- Maintain all necessary professional certifications (licenses, ratings, etc.) to fulfill job duties.
- Assist the training team in the research and development of advanced training products.
- Contribute to the continuous development of aerial firefighter curricula.
- Assist in the development of new aerial firefighter curricula.
- Support certification tasks for aerial firefighter curricula.
- Participate in a quality assurance program involving detailed record-keeping, survey delivery/participation, and continuous improvement for both students and staff.
- Willingly participate in training standards assessment reviews, following ICAO instructor competency guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the PRT, Training Manager or General Manager.
- Holder or previous holder of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license
- Experience as a technician in a maintenance facility.
- Previous experience with Aerial Firefighter aircraft (CL-215T and/or CL-415).
- A verifiable history of work in an instructional capacity (maintenance type rating, training department member).
- Experience with curriculum development and course design.
- Training in instructional techniques or adult education (an asset).
- Knowledge of EASA Part 66, 145, and 147 regulations (an asset).
- Note – Specific extraordinary skill contributions will warrant hiring consideration even if a particular ‘Minimum’ requirement is not met.
- Intermediate general computer operation skills (Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Strong desire to work in an aviation training role within a classroom environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Flexibility is required, as the role involves shift work to accommodate international clients and work in a 24/7 operational facility.
- Frequent travel and extended periods away from home (up to 30 days at a time) are also necessary.
