PROFILE

We are looking for an Applications Trainer to join our Firm in our Vancouver office.


The successful candidate will be a member of a national team of technical trainers responsible for planning and delivering IT training for all personnel at Gowling WLG.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct application training programs for law students, associates, partners, and business services team members ensuring that all Firm members are equipped to use core technology tools as required by the Firm.
  • Work with colleagues in Human Resources and Legal Talent to schedule and co-ordinate, technology training for new firm member onboarding
  • Facilitate ongoing refresher training and deep dive sessions (primarily virtual, with some in-person) to support continuous learning on core Firm applications
  • Design and ongoing development of course materials, and maintenance of all training manuals and resources for self-directed learning.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams, stakeholders and end users to identify training needs and requirements, develop programs and materials and deliver training in support of the technical component of large-scale projects for the Firm
  • Monitor requirements and make training recommendations based on feedback from users and help desk tickets.
  • Provide end-user support along with other members of the IT Department through the completion of calls assigned by the Service Desk.
  • Assist the IT Department with technical workstation support and systems implementations and rollouts.
  • Work with end users to identify improvements of best practices using new processes and applications.
  • Any other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Business or Adult Learning/Training, together with 5+years’ experience in a similar role, delivering technology-focused training in a corporate or professional services setting.
  • Familiarity with various instructional and adult learning methodologies and approaches.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to:
  • Deliver training in an effective, engaging way both virtually and in-person
  • Adapt content to different skill levels and audiences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of internal clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment, including in virtual and hybrid environments
  • Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, with strong attention to detail, occasionally under tight timelines.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with ability to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary.
  • Handle stress in a business-like manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and other document production applications, document management, communication system, and practice-specific applications.
  • Experience with learning management systems, and virtual classroom/webinar platforms considered an asset.

The starting range for this role is $67,000 to $80,000. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
