The bigger picture
We’re looking for a collaborative, strategic and member-focused leader to come on board as our Vice President, Business Banking.
Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the Vice President of Business Banking leads the credit union’s commercial and agricultural banking operations, overseeing sales, service delivery, and business development. As the business line leader, you will be responsible for driving growth while ensuring a strong focus on member retention, deepening relationships, enhancing member experience and loyalty, and maintaining profitability across commercial and agricultural operations.
How you’ll be spending your time
Commercial/Agriculture (Business Banking) Sales and Advice
- Providing financial product sales and advice to commercial and agricultural members to support them in achieving their corporate and financial goals, improve their overall financial wellbeing and the sustainability of Conexus.
- Ensuring effective and timely implementation of all compliance and internal audit related findings and adherence with corporate policies
- Assessing the performance of business sales teams and developing insights and recommendations for improvement
- Acting as the functional line of business head for all aspects of business banking operations
- Ensuring long and short-term profitability by maximizing revenues, controlling expenses, and evaluating business unit and employee performance
Strategy Development and Planning
- Contributing and leading all areas of operational strategy including performance and implementation. This includes building and the execution of strategy for a wide range of sales, service and operational initiatives
- Developing and feeding into annual operating plans for business banking and oversees effective implementation and execution
- Lead local business development strategies to grow our commercial presence, and oversee initiatives which build and maintain a strong pipeline of lending and deposit opportunities to meet annual business goals.
- Acting as a key line of business contact for a wide range of corporate projects, initiatives and committees
- Playing a lead role in business forecasting, developing annual operating plans and budgets
- Maintaining a key focus on initiatives which build and sustain an effective pipeline of lending and deposits to meet annual operating plan objectives
- Ensuring effective member referral strategies to fully optimize member value and deepen relationships across business lines
Member Experience and Loyalty
- Providing direction, implements and audits member experience practices, protocols and standards of the reporting teams
- Responding to member concerns, complaints, issues
- Proactively identifying potential member experience issues and help ensure timely implementation of solutions
People and Organizational Leadership
- Functional leadership and oversight of business banking in all regions and trade areas
- Providing leadership and coaching to a team of direct reports to maximize sales, member experience, business and community development, and operational performance
- Proactively collaborating and engaging with other cross functional leaders to jointly plan and execute enterprise-wide initiatives
- Aligning, coordinating and executing on all budget related and business planning activities required by the organization as per required cycles
- Thorough, consistent and effective communication, contribute to a member centric, healthy, sustainable and engaging employee experience
- Creating a collaborative environment and supports a learning culture, including professional development and coaching plans for all direct reports

The experience you bring
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in management capacity in the area of business banking
- Graduate post-secondary degree in a relevant or related field or a relevant combination of experience and post-secondary education
- Knowledge and sound understanding of financial statements and impact of decision making at the appropriate enterprise level associated with the portfolio
- Awareness of CUDGC Standards of Sound Business Practices
- Awareness of the Credit Union Act and Regulations
Salary Range:
$140,300 - $200,430 with 25% Short Term Incentive Target
