Haul Truck (Mine) or Cell Dozer (Tailings). Involves building skills and gaining experience in operating heavy mobile equipment. Individuals will work to gain qualification on a Haul Truck or Cell Dozer. Once qualified, trainees may progress to training on the Operator 2 qualifications. To be considered a competent and seasoned Operator you must have completed the Operator qualification process and have demonstrated competence in all four seasons on the equipment. Note: Candidates for Operator 1 must successfully complete pre-screening tests.

Key Accountabilities: Performs routine tasks under general supervision in accordance with established standards, procedures or other specifications Developing an awareness in overall processes Aware and supportive of team goals Entry/Developing Level with defined tasks Completes own tasks within priority order as established by othersReceives close supervision on regular basis Seeks guidance to make routine decisions and recommendations within established guidelines and procedures Refers non-routine decisions outside of existing practices and procedures to senior staff Minimum Requirements: General understanding of heavy mobile equipment’s operational, technical, and safety requirements Training and developing skills to gain qualification on a haul truck Basic understanding of the daily operating plans and how his/her role and teams contribute to its success General knowledge of standard operating proceduresBasic understanding of the unit process operations and how their role and team contributes to its success. Understands the importance of personal commitment to the safety of self and others Understands EH&S processes, standards and regulations Basic understanding and guided use of control of hazardous energy (isolation and permit systems) Understanding of maintenance and operations procedures leadingpractices as related to the safe and efficient production of bitumen Awareness of Management of Change (MOC) process Basic knowledge of MMS dispatch panel Possess basic communication and interpersonal skillsIdentify issues and problems and seeks guidance to solve Seek to learn new skills and apply learnings to work tasks Assist with basic and well-defined tasks, as required Qualifications: Diploma 3-5 years relevant experience
