Job Description

Pickering Casino Resort is seeking an Assistant Security Manager!

Under the direction of the Senior Security Manager, Pickering Casino Resort, this position is responsible for the planning and directing of security initiatives along with the overall management and effectiveness of security operations at the site level. In addition, this position ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example, and provides a learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. This includes developing performance objectives and delivering performance evaluations for direct reports.

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills, and abilities, executing the following in support of the company’s vision, mission and values:

  • Providing leadership, direction and mentoring to the security operation at the site level, including developing performance objectives and delivering performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Support with implementing security strategic plans as directed
  • Support with the monitoring of the site security budget; reports variances; makes recommendations to the Regional Security Manager
  • Support and oversee various critical security systems (e.g., Key Control, Itrak, Facial Recognition)
  • Support and develop and implement training for security operations; ensures employees are trained in Emergency Response Procedures
  • Support prepare and maintain site-specific tactical responses to emergency events along with managing drill procedure throughout the year
  • Reviewing reports on violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities and identifies the need for investigations and conducts as directed
  • Overseeing the site First Aid Program; reviews First Aid reports; ensures First Aid staff are appropriately trained and scheduled
  • Oversee departmental schedules
  • Champion RG initiatives daily
  • Conducting on-going site risk assessments; identifies areas of practice or equipment that meet security best practices; identifies opportunities for efficiencies to the Senior Security Manager
  • Administering evacuations; prepares evacuation checklists
  • Maintaining database of active employees
  • Liaising and communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Developing and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, regulatory bodies, management and employees
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations

Successful Applicants Will Demonstrate The Following Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in gaming security or surveillance management
  • Post-secondary education or suitable combination of education and experience an asset
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Smart Serve certificate
  • Must be AFAR Certified
  • A passion for providing outstanding service to our internal and external guests
  • Understanding of yourself as well as others when communicating with team members and guests
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities
  • A willingness to learn, develop and achieve new skills for personal and professional development
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
  • The ability to successfully obtain a Category 1 Gaming Assistant license through the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights. The hours of work will be based on operational needs. Ready to embark on your next adventure?
