Modern Niagara is seeking an Vice President of IT Operations to join and lead our IT team, and be based in either Ottawa or Toronto (Vaughan).
Reporting to the CIO, the Vice President of IT Operations is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and effectiveness of the company's IT infrastructure, support, and business-IT alignment. This leader will oversee and be responsible for existing Service Delivery & Field Support, Asset Management, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure, and Systems Administration while also building and leading a team of Business Analysts to bridge IT with business operations.

Key Responsibilities
Business-IT Alignment & Strategic Partnership
- Build and lead a team of Business Analysts to act as the bridge between business operations and IT, ensuring technology meets business needs.
- Partner with key business stakeholders to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for digital transformation.
- Drive a culture of proactive IT engagement across the company, ensuring IT is a strategic enabler rather than a reactive function.
- Oversee the Helpdesk and Field Support teams, ensuring world-class IT service delivery to office and field-based employees across the organization.
- Evolve and improve processes and policies to improve ticket management, problem resolution, and overall service levels.
- Establish and monitor SLAs and KPIs to ensure a high-performing IT support function.
- Ensure comprehensive tracking and lifecycle management of all employee-issued IT equipment, including laptops and mobile phones.
- Oversee software subscription management, including procurement, renewals, and cost optimization.
- Manage service provider and vendor agreements and ensure contracts are up-to-date and cost-effective.
- Oversee the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure team to maintain a secure, scalable, and resilient IT environment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Oversee network, cloud, and on-prem infrastructure strategy, optimizing performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage enterprise systems administration, ensuring uptime, availability, and continuous improvement of Modern Niagara’s business critical applications.
- Lead efforts around disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response planning.
- Champion automation and process optimization within IT operations.
- Work closely with the Data & Analytics, Integration and Development, and PMO teams to align IT operations with business strategy.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration, ensuring IT teams support enterprise-wide initiatives effectively.
- Develop a high-performing IT operations team, fostering leadership, mentorship, and professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of IT leadership experience in infrastructure, security, service delivery, or IT operations.
- Proven track record in building and leading IT service & support teams.
- Experience with enterprise cybersecurity, network infrastructure, and cloud technologies.
- Strong expertise in service management, and operational excellence frameworks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in construction, field services, or engineering industries.
- Experience with ITIL framework.
- Familiarity with data analytics, business intelligence, and IT-business integration.
- Understanding of agile methodologies, digital transformation, and enterprise architecture.
