We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Turnaround Advisor to support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of all aspects of turnaround services. In this role, you will be highly proactive and provide direction and mentoring to Turnaround teams that fully comply with Suncor's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS). In collaboration with site leadership and strategy teams and their turnaround execution group, including turnaround coordinators, planning, scheduling, and process and reliability engineering, you will drive improvement in Enterprise Turnaround Performance through the OEMS Manage Turnaround Process, including the establishment of new processes and best practices.

Suncor's operations include oil sands development, production and upgrading; offshore oil and gas; petroleum refining in Canada and the U.S.; and the company's Petro-Canada retail and wholesale distribution networks (including Canada's Electric Highway, a coast-to-coast network of fast-charging electric vehicle stations).

Minimum Requirements:
- 15 plus years of increasing responsibilities with hands on experience in a maintenance and major projects environment within the Oil and Gas sector
- An Engineering degree or trade certification with progressive leadership experience in maintenance, engineering, turnarounds or major projects
- Experience in leading organizations including budget development and stewardship, personnel training, backlog management, asset management
- Turnaround leadership of large events/projects that include planning, scheduling, controls, assurance (gate control) and staffing
- Experienced in development and management of contracting strategies and engagement of contract organizations required to supply 1000+ persons
- Process oriented mindset with experience in delivering success through management systems
- Strong ability to influence across the spectrum of groups at an operating asset including operations, engineering, maintenance and turnaround
- Ability to identify and assess new or modified technologies or applications to address major capex issues or capture operational opportunities
- Deliver process and competitive improvements across the Enterprise through the OEMS Manage Turnaround Process
- Collaborate with operating assets to ensure consistent application across all major facilities, sustaining the process by helping to ensure the development and retention of turnaround expertise
- Coordinate programs that allow sharing of resources such as people, inventory, specialized turnaround tooling and equipment, as well as the execution of site-level activities by providing advice and assistance to Turnaround Leaders on process, planning and execution of Turnaround activities
- Coordinate and lead external process reviews, including work scope, event readiness and other learning programs to drive consistency and competitiveness
- Measure site performance and compliance to turnaround objectives and programs; manage Turnaround performance KPI’s
- Establish internal and external networks to gather industry intelligence to aid Suncor in turnaround delivery; build relationships with regional labour organizations that support turnaround execution
- Research best practices in other organizations; develop and implement innovative practices and technologies
- Co-Lead Communities of Practice
- Participate as a key member of the Turnaround Review Team
- Support budget development and management of Suncor Energy Central Turnaround Organization
- You will work out of our Calgary, AB head office or in Fort McMurray, AB
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
- This role will require travel which will be approximately 25-30% of the work schedule
- Relocation support will be provided, if not currently based in Calgary or the RMWB
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based on years of experience and scope of work
