Job Description Summary
Are you looking to align your accounting expertise with an innovative, purpose driven organization in the life sciences? As an Associate Accountant at STEMCELL Technologies, you will support the team by performing routine financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of financial records and reporting. Working closely under the guidance and supervision of more senior accounting professionals, you will contribute to financial statement preparation, month- and year-end close processes, audit preparation, and/or tax filings. You will be an important team member to ensure the ongoing integrity of financial records.

The annual base salary for this job ranges from:
$58,500.00 - $79,100.00
STEMCELL determines an individual’s pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy. In addition to base salary, STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package including health benefits, retirement savings, and more.

Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs select month-end and year-end close activities, contributing to the accurate and timely completion of financial reporting.
- Prepares journal entries and ensures financial records are up to date and precise
- Reconciles select accounts and analyzes variances as assigned.
- Participates in accounting activities, such as financial audit preparation, compliance reviews and tax filings to ensure adherence to financial policies and regulations
- Completes recurring daily and monthly general accounting tasks as planned and assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 1-2 years work / co-op experience
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and regulations, including GAAP, with a continued interest in learning foundational aspects of accounting practices
- Knowledge of financial systems, accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle), data entry (Excel/Sheets) and bookkeeping techniques
- Effective collaborator with strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
