Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist position is for a very well-organized and initiative-taking individual that thrives on excellence who can continually enhance the overall production process to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The successful candidate will provide quality assurance that products and services comply with customer, ISO 9001, SKF Group and regulatory requirements through the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System of the organization.

This is an ideal position for a diligent individual who is interested in playing an active role in advancing our current quality and manufacturing processes by supporting the deployment of a Zero-Defect strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Production Quality

  • Ensures the conformance of the manufactured products according to the defined and applicable specifications (quality control plan), including by running audits specified by our Quality Management System, to ensure the quality of the products delivered to our customers.
  • Ensures that all non-conforming parts, from supply chain or manufacturing processes are identified, segregated, and disposed accordingly, by initiating and closing non-conformance reports (NCR with root cause identification) in a timely manner.
  • Manages the non-conforming material (supplied or manufactured) from end-to-end process (Supplier to Production), as well as, the ERP system transactions, returns to suppliers, concession, and scrap processes.
  • Perform SPC (Statistical Process Control) from data collected by Production.
  • Measure First Pass Yield and lead working sessions to improve the efficiency of control plans & defined procedures.

Project and Customer Quality

  • Acts as a liaison for customer complaints, quality inquires and customer returns (warranty/non-warranty repairs) and timely provides Corrective Actions (CAPA), 8D reports and Failure Analysis reports (FA), as per customer request or as needed, to prevent the occurrence.
  • Be part of the project teams to contribute to project deliverables by implementing QA & QC processes like quality standards and process control plans, process capability and repeatability, according to project needs/schedules and customer expectations.

Continuous Improvement and Cross-disciplinary Activities

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards or failure points in the process that may affect quality. Develop and apply plans to mitigate risks and ensure high-quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Uses lean six sigma tools for ensuring and improving the quality performance of products and processes, as well as uses problem-solving techniques as aids to problem resolution.
  • Provides quality related data for developing and maintaining Quality KPIs and scorecards (Monthly Management Report) and supports the implementation of CoPQ.
  • Conducts internal audits (QMS, processes and products) in accordance with the SKF audit program and supports the external audit process.
  • Participates in the creation and/or review of new or modified QMS procedures.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on quality standards, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Performs other quality related duties according to business needs and manager request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality roles
  • Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
  • Certified ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor
  • Strong knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, strong numerical, analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of usual problem-solving tools like 7QC tools,5-WHY, 8D etc.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronics manufacturing processes (PCBAs, PCBs, wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electro-mechanical integration)
  • Statistical Process Control
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by promoting quality initiatives such as Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM), and lean manufacturing.
  • Collaboration with other departments like Production, Engineering etc.
  • Excellent computer skills; Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and associated scripting languages (Python, VBA)
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams for quality improvement and problem-solving.
  • Highly meticulous, well organized, self-starter and self-motivated
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to relate and interact effectively with various levels of the organization and suppliers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Occasional traveling might be required.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic measurement tools like Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Clamp Meters, LCR Meters, Hi-pot Testers etc.

Additional Assets

  • Computer programming skills (scripting, interfacing with APIs of various applications for data processing, cleaning, and analysis for quality purposes etc.)
  • Use of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical measurement tools like Calipers, micrometers, gauges etc. and measurement techniques
  • Knowledge in Metrology and equipment calibration
  • Familiarity with industry standards (IPC, ISO, CSA, UL, IEC etc.)
