The Accountant provides integrity to the financial accounting and reporting functions. A passion for excellence and teamwork enables the Accountant to perform the accounting functions in an accurate and timely manner while complying with internal procedures and controls.

The Accountant performs a variety of moderately complex accounting procedures and analysis relating to the Credit Union and its subsidiaries. Responsibilities include preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and income statement review and analysis.

What You’ll Do

• Performs reconciliations on various account types; analyzes and investigates, and follows up on transactions for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepares and records a variety of month-end entries and accruals in support of month-end financial statement close, utilizing accounting knowledge to make decisions on appropriate accounting treatments.
• Prepares and records activities related to rental leasing, analyzes and prepares accounting memos for new lease additions.
• Supports the year end audit by coordinating deliverables with external auditors preparing moderately complex year end working papers and note disclosures.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly sales tax remittances for the credit union and its subsidiary companies.
• Shows strong analytical skills and is able to investigate, explain, and follow up on month over month variances and variances to budget.

What You Bring

• 1-3 years of experience in an accounting position.
• Ability to exercise sound independent judgement.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact both verbally and in writing with a variety of people.
• The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Proficient with accounting and Microsoft software applications, i.e. Word, Excel.
• Stays current on and demonstrates proficiency in applying accounting principles and procedures as well as commodity tax regulations and standards.
