Job Title: Manager of Technical Accounting
Reporting to: Assistant Controller
Location: Victoria, BC
Inspirato is seeking a dynamic, highly analytical, and detail-oriented Technical Accounting Manager to join our Corporate Accounting team. This is a high-impact role designed for a strategic thinker who excels at turning complex data into actionable insights and enjoys partnering cross-functionally to drive results.
This position is responsible for the maintenance and application of the company’s accounting policies, including the application of new accounting guidance and assessing the accounting implications of business transactions. This position will also be responsible for helping prepare and review quarterly and yearly filing documents, ensuring timely and reliable external reporting and that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
The ideal candidate must have experience leading and building teams and a track record of demonstrated process improvement. They must also have excellent communication skills and a willingness to be hands on in day to day accounting responsibilities, the monthly close process and quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
We believe in building a compensation structure that reflects the comparable market pay rate for positions at companies similar in size, revenue generation and geographic location; in addition to individual factors including seniority, performance-based merit, education/training and experience related to scope of responsibilities.
Bonus: Eligible for the company’s bonus plan.
Paid Time Off: Accrues each pay period, totaling 15 days annually, plus nine paid holidays.
FAM Trip: After one year of employment, eligible for one three-to-four-night stay per calendar year in an Inspirato property, subject to availability and program terms.

This position will also be responsible for helping prepare and review quarterly and yearly filing documents, ensuring timely and reliable external reporting and that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation and review of various required external and internal reporting packages, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, Proxys, Section 16 reporting, and other ad-hoc external reporting
- Review of external financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Review and preparation of management reporting packages
- Ensure integrity of financial data and accuracy of the financial statements
- Providing support as needed to the team in preparing and approving journal entries, allocations, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reports
- Providing support towards the Company’s Section 16 filings (Forms 3, 4 and 5) through close monitoring of the Company’s stock based compensation program
- Provide support as needed to manage the accuracy and recording of deferred revenue, payroll, leases, credits, fixed asset, etc
- Assist in determining technical accounting treatment for all company transactions
- Ensure adherence to GAAP
- Preparation of the Company’s ongoing technical accounting memos
- Document evaluation of appropriate guidance for novel situations and see through to implementation in monthly processes
- Assess impact of new accounting standards and implement any required changes to current accounting policies and procedures
- Review business contracts as necessary to ensure proper accounting treatment
- Assist in management of the Company’s share-based compensation program
- Monthly reconciliation of awards and balances
- Ensure proper treatment of new and novel offerings
- Preparation in the Company’s Earnings per Share
- Support new business initiatives
- Determine accounting policies and procedures for new initiatives
- Develop and implement required accounting processes to support new initiatives
- Be an advocate for the team in prioritizing new initiatives
- Improve core accounting processes to streamline and automate month end activities
- Lead various projects as assigned and continuously find ways to refine processes by creating efficiencies, streamlining repetitive tasks, and utilizing technology
- Assist in reducing time of monthly close process
- Lead accounting team through necessary change management
- Identify and assist in rectifying areas of opportunity and exposure
- Assist in developing and maintaining appropriate business and internal controls over financial reporting
- Assist in the coordination of the company’s annual financial audit
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 6-8 years relevant experience; minimum 2+ years managing a professional team
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Active CPA
- Ability to research technical accounting guidance and evaluate novel circumstances
- Excellent Excel skills
- Experience with change management and competing priorities
- Strong, hands-on management style with a proven ability to lead, develop and provide guidance to an accounting staff
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, project/process management skills
- Previous accounting leadership position experience required
- Experience in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Prior success implementing accounting process improvements and upgrading systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - demonstrated ability to successfully partner with peers, subordinates, other departments and executive management
