Compensation: $18.30-$20.60 CAD per hour + Tips

The base salary or hourly wage range for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. About the Role:

Prep cooks are responsible for receiving, checking the quality of, washing, cutting, and preparing the produce and food goods in accordance with Din Tai Fung’s procedures. Prep cooks must familiarize themselves with the standard cutting size of all vegetables and take care and attention to washing vegetables thoroughly.

Working Schedule:

  • Number of Days: Must be available for 5 shifts per week
  • Weekend Availability: Required
  • Shifts: Day Shift or Evening Shift

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Receives the produce from the vendor, taking care to check the quality of each item
  • Thoroughly washes the produce items
  • Cuts and prepares the produce in accordance with Din Tai Fung’s standard cutting sizes and procedures (must be comfortable using a knife and cutting glove)
  • Labels all items in accordance with Health Department regulations and Din Tai Fung procedures
  • Attends monthly staff meetings and Prep Cook meetings


Supporting Functions:

  • Keeps all kitchen areas clean and sanitized
  • Organizes items within the walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Lifts/moves boxes, bags, chairs, and tables (up to 50 pounds)
  • Assists with regular deep cleaning of the kitchen
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all propriety information, including but not limited to recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP’s“)


Job Requirements:

  • We are searching for friendly, energetic, highly motivated people who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Experience in prep, specifically with dough (pastry, pizza, etc.) is a plus

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
