Our client, a leading retailer in North America, is seeking two Corporate Counsels for their Commercial & Regulatory group. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, team-centred environment and work alongside the North American legal team. Based in Mississauga, this full-time role offers the chance to support multiple business units such as financial services, ecommerce, transportation, marketing and technology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, team-centred environment and work alongside the North American legal team. Based in Toronto, this full-time role offers the chance to support multiple business units such as financial services, ecommerce, transportation, marketing and technology.

What you'll do:

Support multiple business units including financial services, ecommerce, transportation, marketing and technology
Lead the negotiation of strategic commercial transactions
Provide advice in complex regulatory areas such as financial services, consumer protection and privacy
Identify risks and manage potential legal and regulatory issues
Educate and train on legal requirements within the business in partnership with stakeholders
Manage external counsel across Canada
Identify and implement efficient ways of working both within and outside the legal department

What you bring:

Minimum of 7 to 10 years of corporate/regulatory experience at an in-house legal department or leading law firm
Member in good standing with the Ontario or British Columbia Law Society
Ability to lead complex transactions and communicate practical legal advice to all levels of the company including senior management
Experience working on financial services, consumer protection and privacy/data governance matters would be an asset
Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills
