Position Overview

Pastry Chef will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Pastry Department relating to Patisserie, Chocolates, Bread and Plated dessert production while maintaining the highest level of culinary excellence.

Duties include, but are not limited to, production, presentation, supervising staff, scheduling, training, mentoring, evaluating, ordering and inventory. Pastry Chef will also participate in menu planning, act as a liaison between the Restaurant Chef and F&B Management to the pastry staff, and be responsible for ensuring a safe, sanitary and healthy working environment. Pastry Chef must be proficient in a fast paced fine dining establishment. Pastry Chef as part of the Culinary Leadership Team would be responsible for decision making and planning discussions relating to the Culinary Program at the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino and act as a Supervisor to all Kitchen employees.

Education And Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a high volume restaurant is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous culinary education or apprenticeship would be an asset
  • Food Safe level 1 certification is mandatory & a condition for employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Should possess professional attitude, strong interpersonal skills and be a good team player.
  • Must be able to work weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Ability to follow instructions either written or vocal from the managers

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Work within a 24/7 operation with ability to work flexible hours when required (days, evening, nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Must have employment eligibility in Canada
