About The Position

RWDI is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our Acoustics team in Calgary, AB or Vancouver, BC as a junior Scientist/Engineer specializing in architectural acoustics. The successful candidate may be a new graduate with a passion for noise and acoustics or may have a maximum of four years’ experience working in the field.

The Role Includes But Is Not Limited To

  • Conducting field measurements and inspections at commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial sites.
  • Producing high quality, thoughtful analysis using commercially available software packages and in-house tools.
  • Taking ownership of timeline and budget to deliver a successful project from data acquisition through analysis, consulting, and reporting.
  • Taking a client-focused approach, where your technical skills support the success of your client’s projects.
  • Communicating complex technical concepts in straight-forward language.
  • Adhering to a defined quality assurance process
  • Active and frequent communication with project managers, clients, and others within the Acoustics team.


Note that this role does not involve project management. There is, however, substantial opportunity to build relationships with clients and support the project management team.

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in an applicable engineering discipline
  • Current registration as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. or to be eligible to register with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists in Alberta (APEGA) or Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Availability to work in-person in our downtown Calgary office or Vancouver office


The following attributes are seen as assets for this position:

  • Consulting experience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • A demonstrated interest in architectural acoustics, environmental noise or vibration
  • Experience with data acquisition and/or digital electronics and/or coding
  • Experience with acoustic and/or noise prediction software such as Odeon and Cadna/A
  • Ability to interpret architectural/mechanical/structural drawings.
