Role Description
The Junior Cloud Application Developer is an entry level position and is part of the Enterprise Solutions team that is responsible for mission critical operational systems. This position is expected to work independently on projects of minor to moderate complexity or work closely with senior developers and architects on larger more complex tasks to create scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions.

Role Description
The Junior Cloud Application Developer is an entry level position and is part of the Enterprise Solutions team that is responsible for mission critical operational systems. This position is expected to work independently on projects of minor to moderate complexity or work closely with senior developers and architects on larger more complex tasks to create scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions.
Core Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to:
Software Design and Development
- Design and develop maintainable, and efficient code for cloud applications using Microsoft Azure services, (such as Azure Functions, App Services, and Logic Apps), as per specifications and in accordance to corporate coding standards and industry best practices for security, performance, and scalability.
- Author detailed design and other technical documentation as required.
- Debug and remedy software problems.
- Analyze and evaluate new applications or changes to existing applications and submit recommendations for approval.
- Perform maintenance and support of applications and/or technologies.
- Follow defined Agile software development practices, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure the effective use of code repositories and good quality code on an ongoing basis.
- Build test scenarios and perform unit and integration testing.
- Perform independent research and analysis for potential solutions to technical issues.
- Working knowledge and familiarity with a cloud platform such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Previous relevant Internships and / or Co-op opportunities leveraging cloud technologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and services, or demonstrable personal projects or open source contributions
- Experience with an agile methodology is preferred (negotiable).
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies (Scrum) and ALM tooling such as Azure DevOps.
- Working knowledge of software version control and branching strategies (i.e.: GitFlow)
- Tooling: VS Code or Visual Studio; Git; Azure DevOps, Logic App Designer
- Demonstrable competence of one or more of the following programming languages: C#, Java, C++, Python, TypeScript, Go, PowerShell, etc.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously when necessary.
- Able to listen, communicate, evaluate, problem solve, multitask effectively, and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, challenging, and rewarding environment.
- Non-tech Skills: strong people skills; team player; excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective organizational and time management skills; can interface with all levels within the company.
- Post-secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate in computer science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Completion of learning paths or the exam for Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Azure Developer is a plus
- Occasional travel to Kal Tire locations for work or training purposes.
- Evening and occasional weekend work may be required.
- The target salary range for this position is $60,900 to $70,100 per year based on experience.
