POSITION DESCRIPTION


TITLE: EHS Sustainability Advisor

DEPARTMENT: EHS

POSITION REPORTING TO: EHS Site Lead

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent Full-Time


General Description

The EHS Sustainability Advisor plays a key role in ensuring Bora’s compliance with environment, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, driving sustainability initiatives, and aligning with both company and customer expectations for EHS performance. This role will champion Bora’s sustainability efforts and actively support the implementation and continuous improvement of Bora’s EHS programs. Working collaboratively across departments, the Advisor will identify opportunities, make informed decisions, and contribute to the site’s overall EHS and sustainability goals.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities


EHS Compliance:

  1. Ensure site compliance with all environmental regulations and permits (air, water, and waste) while supporting overall EHS compliance, including adherence to health and safety regulations, monitoring EHS KPIs, conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and implementing CAPAs as needed.
  2. Conduct environmental sampling (e.g., wastewater) to evaluate compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
  3. Liaise with regulatory agencies, maintain records, and ensure timely submissions of required documentation.

Environment Sustainability Program Management:

  1. Lead environment sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate and site goals, driving progress in GHG tracking, reporting and reduction efforts.
  2. Facilitate the site’s Sustainability Committee, fostering employee engagement in sustainability practices.
  3. Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate EHS & Sustainability goals into operation and decision-making.

Project Identification Management:

  1. Identify, assess, and implement environmental projects focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation.
  2. Develop business cases for sustainability initiatives and track project outcomes, ensuring alignment with Bora’s goals.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on EHS & Sustainability compliance matters, including employee engagement and senior management updates.

EHS Support:

  1. Participate in the site’s Management of Change program, reviewing proposed changes with EHS implications.
  2. Facilitate hazard identification, accident investigations, and the implementation of controls to mitigate EHS risks.
  3. Respond to incidents or emergencies, conducting after action-reviews, and implement CAPAs as needed.


Qualifications

Experience and Skills


Experience: Minimum of 5 years in EHS, with a focus on environmental compliance, sustainability, or a related role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and GHG emissions reporting, and health and safety best practices.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in conducting risk assessments, implementing risk management strategies, and performing audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills to engage stakeholders at all organization level effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex challenges, make independent decisions, and implement practical, effective solutions to meet EHS and sustainability goals.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to manage multiple priorities and balance EHS responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across multiple departments to integrate EHS and sustainability initiatives into operations.
  • Initiative: Self-starter with proactive approach to manage deliverables, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing would be considered a strong asset.


Education


Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Health & Safety, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Additional certification, such as Environmental Professional, Environmental Management System, Energy Management, Sustainability Professional, or GHG Inventory Quantification are considered assets.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Combination of office and manufacturing work environment; typically, 7.5 hours/day but can vary depending on the demands of the day due to projects, emergencies, etc.
