As an Applied Scientist at Coveo, you will be tasked with building the language technology solutions that power the future of our Search and Personalization products for our Knowledge & Service customers. You’ll contribute to shaping the future of language understanding in the enterprise space by designing, building, and deploying transformative models that solve real business problems.

You’ll collaborate closely with other Applied Scientists, ML Developers, and Product Managers to bring cutting-edge research into production, leveraging state-of-the-art Transformer architectures, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI techniques.

The ML unit at Coveo focuses on researching applications of the latest advances in Recommender Systems, Ranking Optimization, LLMs and NLP to build innovative solutions in e-commerce, self-service and other business verticals.

We solve real problems with real data, for hundreds of large enterprise clients all around the world, on a modern platform that serves over 100M requests and automatically trains thousands of ML models on a daily basis.

Here Is a Glimpse At Your Responsibilities

• Design, train, evaluate, and deploy advanced language models tailored for a wide range of NLP use cases including retrieval-augmented generation, question-answering, summarization, intent classification, and more.
• Write world-class production code to transform experimental code into a robust solution for our clients by using Python and libraries such as PyTorch and Transformers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define problem scopes, experiment with new techniques, and translate research insights into practical solutions.
• Drive innovation cycles with robust experimentation and model evaluation strategies.
• Help evolve scientific best practices and research infrastructure in collaboration with the ML Platform team.
  
  

Here Is What Will Qualify You For The Role

• 3+ years experience building NLP solutions at a non-trivial scale, using modern techniques, along with a PhD or MSc in a relevant discipline (ML, CS, Math, Physics).
• Experience working across the ML lifecycle, from data preparation and modeling to delivering robust, production-grade machine learning systems and services.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating with other scientists and developers on a daily basis throughout the development lifecycle
  
  

Here Is What Will Make You Stand Out

• Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), question-answering, domain adaptation, or information extraction.
• Familiarity with traditional NLP and linguistics-based methods and when to use them effectively alongside modern deep learning approaches.
• Prior international work experience, with an appreciation for cross-cultural collaboration and communication.
