Senior Drafter – Metal Cladding, Decking & Roofing

Location: West of Toronto

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000

Our client, a well-established and COR-certified (IHSA.ca) construction firm with decades of experience, is seeking a Senior Drafter to join their team. Specializing in metal cladding, metal deck, metal roofing, insulated metal panels (IMPs), and aluminum composite metals (ACMs), this firm delivers high-quality solutions for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed drawings and shop drawings for metal cladding, decking, and roofing systems using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and subconsultants to develop cost-effective and constructible solutions.
  • Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code (OBC) to ensure compliance in mid-to-large-scale projects, including universities and art centers.
  • Work closely with project managers and site supervisors to ensure accurate execution of designs on-site.
  • Conduct site visits to assess scope of work, review site conditions, and assist in problem-solving.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators to ensure accurate material specifications and shop drawings.
  • Utilize Revit for 3D modeling and visualization (strong asset).
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of drafting experience focused on metal cladding, metal roofing, and engineered solutions.
  • A portfolio demonstating design excellence with elevations and lots of section details for IMPs and ACMs for college, corporate offices or industrial projects - from $3~$30 million valuations
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Procore (Revit experience is a strong plus).
  • Degree in Architecture or an Architectural Technology Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience in Ontario Building Code (OBC) applications for mid-to-large projects.
  • Strong understanding of building science principles and engineered solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience coordinating with subconsultants and clients to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle for site visits.
