Job Description

Work Location: On site - Brandon Regional Health Centre (150 McTavish Ave East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3)

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Anticipated Shift: Full Time, Days, Early Mornings, Mornings, Evenings, Nights, On Call, Weekends

Daily Hours Worked: Various hour shifts (30 to 40 hours per week)

Position Type: Fee for service

Wage Rate: Compensation is fee-for-service as per the Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Health a Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living negotiated rates.

Benefits

Contingent on a 2-year Return of service agreement, PMH will provide $15,000 for relocation costs to the successful candidate. Benefits are not provided, but may be purchased if the successful candidate so desired.

Position Summary

As the second largest city in Manitoba, with a population of 55,000 and growing, Brandon is the main hub and referral site for southwestern Manitoba, with a catchment area of approximately 200,000 people. Brandon Regional Health Centre is a fully accredited multi-specialty facility with 300+ bed capacity and are currently undergoing a $110 million-dollar expansion of our inpatient care facilities, expected to be completed by 2026.

The over 300 bed Regional Health Centre has 48 Medical Beds, 56 Surgical Beds, 9 Adult Intensive Care Beds, 20 Obstetrical Beds, 6 Operating Rooms and 1 Minor Surgery Procedure Room. Diagnostic Services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. Successful applicants will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical and obstetric programs, including supervision and teaching of students and residents. The successful applicants will also be required to participate in an on-call rota of approximately 1 in 4. Qualified PRA candidates are encouraged to apply, provided they meet eligibility requirements.

Brandon Regional Health Centre is a satellite campus for the University of Manitoba and the Rady Faculty of Medicine, and offers the opportunity to contribute to the teaching/mentoring of medical learners.

Credentials

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree
  • The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada
  • Current licensure or eligible for full license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
  • Must be a member of CMPA or provide proof of equivalent malpractice insurance

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record

Additional Information

Security and safety:

  • Complete and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
  • All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with the Prairie Mountain Health policy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
