What You Will Be Doing

This position will provide assistance to the Agricultural Scientist. Processing research samples, entering data, assisting in trial set-up and assisting in data collection.

• Assist with plant phenology sampling project (collecting and classifying shoots on a weekly basis)
• Assist with herbicide screening trial and herbicide layering strategy trial (applying products to plots, assessing product effects, harvesting berries)
• Assist with canopy management research projects (assessing/measuring canopy characteristics, harvesting berries)
• Assist with varietal evaluation plots (harvesting berries)
• Assist with product residue plots (harvesting berries)
• Assist with inputting Pesticide Use Reports (PURs) during busy pre-harvest season
• Data organization/management
• Collect insect/disease/weed samples as needed throughout the season
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Horticulture/agriculture experience/education preferred
• Course work in entomology, pathology, weed science, etc.
• Experience in laboratory or field research setting
• Experience in data collection and organization
• Ability to read and understand scientific literature
• Ability to navigate to field sites
• Ability to work independently
  
  

Working Environment

Terrain can be traverse and uneven. May need to be outside in adverse weather conditions.
