The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household good collection service. With more than 5,000 donations bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items, using them to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada.

Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million pounds of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. As an employee on the National Diabetes Trust team, you are part of our national coverage in 2,500 communities, with 28 operations and 100 trucks. What We Offer

  • Independent work with flexible part-time hours during the week
  • Opportunity to earn extra income – compensation will vary depending on volume of donations collected and stored

About The Drop Box Attendant Role

As an Independent Contractor, you will focus on the collection and storing of recycled textiles and small household items from Diabetes Canada donations bins that are placed throughout the community in Barrie.

Highlights Of The Role Include

  • Empty donation bins on a regular basis (scheduled provided)
  • Bag loose items as required (bags supplied)
  • Ensure cleanliness around the donation boxes
  • Complete weekly service log sheets
  • Transport goods to storage facility when required (storage supplied)
  • Meet Diabetes Canada Driver to load goods on truck

About You

The successful candidate for this role will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Only applicants who operate/own a large vehicle such as a van, cube van or pick-up truck will be considered
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must have or be willing to get an HST # which is free, and we will help you obtain
  • You could be eligible for CRA deductions such as vehicle, gas, maintenance and technology
