The Finance and Technology Manager thrives at the intersection of finance, technology, and risk management, providing strategic oversight to drive efficiency, growth, and compliance. Reporting directly to the President, they will lead our financial operations, internal technology infrastructure, and legal/risk management functions. This seat is pivotal in driving financial strategy, optimizing internal systems, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will manage both the finance team and the technology team, ensuring seamless integration between financial data, operational technology, and company-wide decision-making.

Your Day to Day

  • Financial Management, Data & Reporting (50%):
  • Financial Operations & Reporting:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements/receipts, cash flow management and account reconciliations.
  • Leadership, Management and Accountability for the finance team and external providers, ensuring efficient teamwork, delegation and results
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports) in accordance with GAAP.
  • Conduct internal tests and audits on the financial system to boost operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and deliver more accurate and timely information, expense management, and policy compliance.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all financial and technology systems.
  • Maintain secure and organized data storage practices, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret complex accounting transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Plan and complete the annual review engagement with external accountants.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls, processes, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with government reporting and filing requirements.
  • Manage the Company expense process, including adherence to process and budget.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure financial policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Design and execute the business financial strategy
  • Prepare and maintain the annual financial plan; develop and improve budgeting and financial reporting systems.
  • Conduct financial analysis and forecasting of company metrics, providing meaningful information for decision-making.
  • Maintain and interpret business data to provide accurate and timely reporting of company financial information, KPI’s and success measurables.
  • Design models and develop tools to assist managers with budgeting, reporting, costing, product profitability models, forecasting, and other analysis.
  • Support other management and other corporate departments with required financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Evaluate acquisition and/or divestiture proposals and provide advice to the CEO
  • Technology Infrastructure Management: (40%)
  • Establish and execute the company's technology vision and strategy, ensuring alignment and evolution with business goals.
  • Oversee all internal technology systems, ensuring they are efficient, optimized, secure, and scalable.
  • Manage the company’s CRM (HubSpot) and optimize its integration with other business processes.
  • Lead the administration and strategic use of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, ensuring collaboration and security.
  • Oversee all SaaS applications and system integrations, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage IT personnel and providers, ensuring best practices in cybersecurity, data management, and tech support.
  • Evaluate and implement new technology solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Compliance & Risk Management (10%):
  • Oversee day-to-day compliance and risk activities
  • Provide compliance and risk guidance and support to the President and the CEO on strategy and regulatory aspects.
  • Managing legal workflow with external consultants.
  • Maintain secure and organized data storage practices, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, ensuring information is easily accessible yet protected from unauthorized access.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, data protection laws, and government policies.
  • Oversee risk management strategies, anticipating & mitigating potential legal and financial risks.
  • Work with legal advisors on contracts, agreements, and regulatory matters.
  • Establish internal policies to ensure adherence to compliance and corporate governance standards

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required
  • Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a ‘financial leadership role,
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial software and CRM systems. Experience using HubSpot and SharePoint is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with EOS is an asset.
