Gowan Agro Canada is looking for a Production Formulator. The Formulator is responsible for the accurate formulation and processing of pesticide chemical products in compliance with company quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves operating and maintaining production equipment, overseeing raw materials handling, and ensuring accurate documentation. The Production Formulator works closely with the production team to meet product specifications and ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Accurately formulate and process pesticide products according to production specifications and safety regulations.
  • Operate production machinery, ensuring that equipment functions correctly and efficiently.
  • Handle raw materials, including weighing, mixing, and verifying the quality and quantity of ingredients used in the formulation process.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting and minor maintenance on production equipment to ensure continuous operations.
  • Monitor and adjust processes to maintain product consistency and meet quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of formulation processes, batch numbers, and production data.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with environmental and safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to identify and resolve any issues related to product quality.
  • Assist with inventory management, including tracking raw materials and finished products.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Train / Shadow new operators
  • Write, Review, Update procedures as per WebEDMS policy
  • Complete Safe Work Permitting and Red Tag for non-procedure and contractor work
  • Provide backup manpower to other departments when required
  • Housekeeping and Waste Management
  • Other Duties as assigned


Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in chemical or pesticide formulation.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling, mixing, and formulation processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate measurements and ingredient proportions.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot production equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, including the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to become Forklift certified
  • Ability to become certified in Rail Operations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.


Job Expectations/Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Regularly required to move throughout the plant and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Compliance with safety and environmental regulations is mandatory
