Position Overview
Applications are invited for the casual position of Labourer III – Irrigation in the Community Services Department. This position is posted with the following understanding:
Work in this position would be limited in general to the time period between start up to shut down of all irrigation systems within the Parks system.
Employees in this position perform a wide range of construction, maintenance and repair operations. Work of this class includes both heavy and light physical labour.
Reporting to the Out of Scope Manager or designate, employees in this classification work with minimum supervision.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Perform a variety of construction, maintenance, repair and data collection tasks within the assigned Division.
Perform heavy manual tasks when required.
May be required to provide guidance to other employees.
Follow the Act, Regulations and policies of Occupational Health & Safety.
Follow Acts, Regulations, Bylaws, Agreements, policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of the principles and standard practices used in construction, maintenance and repair operations.
Skill in the use of hand tools used in construction and maintenance operations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to deal effectively with the general public and co-workers.
Good organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
Grade 12.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
