Our valued member is looking for an Accounting Technician to join their team in Kitchener, Ontario.

The Accounting Technician supports the finance department by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the accounting function. This role involves working with financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing administrative support for various accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Recordkeeping:

• Maintain and update financial records, including general ledgers, journals, and balance sheets.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions (income, expenses, and transfers).
  
  

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Process and track incoming and outgoing payments.
• Reconcile invoices with purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies.
• Follow up on overdue payments and handle collection procedures.
  
  

Bank Reconciliation:

• Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts with the company's financial records to ensure accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between the two.
  
  

Financial Reporting:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Provide necessary reports for budgeting and financial analysis.
  
  

Tax Preparation and Filing:

• Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Maintain records of taxes paid and ensure proper documentation for tax purposes.
  
  

Audit Support:

• Provide documentation and support for both internal and external audits.
• Assist in resolving any audit-related issues or discrepancies.
  
  

Compliance:

• Ensure that all accounting procedures comply with industry standards, legal requirements, and company policies.
• Stay up to date with accounting regulations and best practices.
  
  

Software and Systems Management:

• Use accounting software and systems to process financial transactions and generate reports.
• Maintain and update accounting databases and financial software.
  
  

Other Administrative Duties:

• Assist with various clerical tasks as needed, including filing, answering phone inquiries, and managing documents.
• Communicate with vendors, clients, and other stakeholders to resolve financial matters.
  
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Accounting Technician Certification) is a plus.
• Proven experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software QBO and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
