KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a permanent full-time position with 84 hours biweekly. Flexibility in scheduling is required. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour paid meal break.
Shifts: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors the activities of the clients/residents and maintains availability for personal, practical, and moral support; may include providing safe storage and recording of prescribed medications.
- Accurately records day-to-day happenings using appropriate methods; maintains logbooks and completes occurrence reports.
- Provides life skills training (personal hygiene, mental and physical health, communication, anger management, etc.) for clients/residents.
- Acts as client advocate; acts as positive role model.
- Liaises with referral sources and other external agencies as needed (e.g., welfare, police, parole, urgent situations).
- Coordinates client care relating to security issues; performs bed checks and room/personal searches.
- Handles the admission, orientation, evaluation of clients’ understanding of rules, and discharge procedures; ensures the ongoing enforcement of policies, which may include client discipline.
- May handle finances relating to room rentals and meal tickets and receipting of same.
- Answers the program department telephone and records/remits messages.

- May work with potentially aggressive clients.
- The successful job applicant will have completed up to two (2) years of Community College.
- WHMIS training.
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Non-violent crisis intervention training.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- One year but less than three years of prior related experience including, frontline work in a social service setting (with women/children), life skills and experience in a related field.
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
