Job Title: Manager, Financial Reporting

Location: Oakville, Ontario (Hybrid)

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, this role is responsible for managing a team of 4-5 professionals. This individual will be overseeing the financial reporting process, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions within the pharmaceutical industry. The primary focus of this role is ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in financial reporting, as well as a continued focus on process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual statements in accordance with ASPE.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data for reporting, to support decision-making, and strategic planning.
  • Challenge variances and work with business partners to identify any errors or unusual transactions.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow and foreign currency risks to optimize working capital.

  1. Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize financial reporting processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement automation solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Utilize advanced financial reporting software and tools to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Continuously assess and improve internal controls to maintain data integrity.

  1. Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 financial reporting professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Provide guidance and support for team members in their daily tasks and career development.

  1. Audit Support:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax consultants.
  • Work with operations to manage the yearly inventory count.
  • Coordinate the audit and SRED process, address inquiries, and facilitate the timely completion of requests.

  1. Ownership of Finance Master Data:

  • Take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and maintenance of finance master data, including chart of accounts, financial statement mapping, cost centers, and profit centers.
  • Collaborate with Master Data Management team to ensure the seamless integration of finance master data across systems and platforms.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on proper data entry and utilization to enhance reporting accuracy and effectiveness.

  1. Ad-Hoc Tasks:

  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from senior management and cross-functional teams for financial data analysis, reporting, and insights.
  • Engage in special projects, such as financial system upgrades or process redesign initiatives, as assigned by senior management.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting software and tools (SAP and Concur experience is an asset).
  • Fluent in using Microsoft Office suite including advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity.
