Adecco is currently seeking a full-time Water Taxi Driver to join our esteemed client, a prominent member of the Assembly of First Nations, situated in Gold River, BC.

In this permanent role, you will assume responsibility for the operation and management of our client's water taxi service. Your duties will encompass ensuring compliance with Transport Canada's regulations governing small vessel operations, while also overseeing the deckhand to uphold passenger safety standards.

  • Pay rate: Up to $35/hour depending upon experience
  • Location: Gold River, BC
  • Shifts: Day
  • Job type: Full-time | Permanent
  • Relocation assistance is provided, if not presently a resident of Gold River, BC
  • First three months of accommodation are provided

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate motor-driven boat to carry passengers and cargo on schedule, as required.
  • Maintain and ensure all onboard equipment, including safety equipment, is in good working order.
  • Monitor passenger and cargo loading/seating on the vessel to ensure capacity limits are followed for safety.
  • Execute basic maintenance on boats; including changing oil, minor repairs, and paint touch ups as needed.
  • Oversee the deck hand position.
  • Ensure the vessel is prepared for service daily, including maintaining cleanliness for passengers.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date vessel logs and documentation.
  • Comply with all Transport Canada's guidelines including those related to passenger safety, and licensing requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency certification and training
  • Minimum three years' experience operating small water vessels
  • Marine First Aid certification
  • MEDA-3, ROG-Marine Commercial Radio Certificate
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong navigational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to establish rapport with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Bridge Water Ratings certification
  • Survival Crafts & Rescue Boats proficiency
  • Valid driver's license
  • Clear criminal records check
  • Legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
