Description

The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), Canada’s Centre for Pandemic Research, is a world leader in infectious disease research and vaccine development for humans and animals. Located at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, VIDO is home to one of the largest and most advanced containment level 3 facilities in the world. To strengthen the preparedness for emerging infectious diseases we are currently expanding our infrastructure to include containment level 4 capacity, a GMP vaccine manufacturing facility, and a new animal housing facility supporting a variety of large and small animal models. Our vision includes having the capacity to study any emerging disease in any animal model embracing a One Health approach to prevent emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in humans and animals.

Required

We are seeking a Finance Clerk to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Clerk is responsible for the procurement of all items and materials required at VIDO. Key duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Compiles requests for materials, prepares purchase orders, keeps track of purchases and supplies, and handles inquiries about orders. Coordinates with suppliers to expedites purchases as required.
  • Receives and tracks packing slips for confirmation of delivery. Follows up on delayed orders as requested.
  • Liaises with customs brokers to ensure smooth delivery of international orders.
  • Monitors inventory and performs buying duties when necessary.
  • Provides researchers and staff with information about the specifications of available equipment, materials and supplies to be purchased and undertakes research as required.
  • Prepares and maintains various reports on acquisitions and distribution, recording logistical and financial information according to the required procedures and standards.

A minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required in addition to a relevant post-secondary certificate; an Accounting Certificate is preferable.

Status: Permanent

Employment Group: Non-Union

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week)

Full Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.0
