Purpose:

With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Ancillary Services works with internal and external partners to provide exceptional experiences and enhance the quality of campus life in alignment with the University's core values.The Digital Prepress Designer supports the Front Office (Sales) and Production areas of Printing Services through provision of graphic and digital prepress skills to fulfill the graphic requirements for the York community clientele, while maintaining the integrity of the Visual Identity of the University.

Education:
Community College Graduate of recognized Graphic Design program or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Two years' (2) experience in the printing and graphics industry is required, with some knowledge of offset presswork, high- speed, high-volume digital printing and various bindery machinery operations. Two years experience acting in a graphic design and digital prepress capacity within the printing trade. Two years experience of customer service dealing courteously and effectively with the public within a service oriented environment. and under competing time demands.

Skills:
Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public within a service-oriented environment. exercising tact and courtesy when dealing with the public and under competing time demands. Typing, 40 wpm speed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Advanced level of ability in the use of graphic software packages of Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXPress, PageMaker, Corel Draw and InDesign is a requirement. Intermediate to advanced level of ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access for word processing, spreadsheet, presentations and information-merge applications on micro-computers is required. with a high level of accuracy.Intermediate to advanced level of ability in the use of digital photography and scanning of photographic reflective prints and importing those files into digital artwork is required. Intermediate to advanced level of ability in importing variable data from a spreadsheet application and merging the variable data into graphic templates is required.Advanced level of demonstrated graphic design ability is essential.Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time under pressure and high work loads. Possesses good organizational skills working in a team environment. and have a highly developed respect for stringent deadlines. Essential ability to communicate clearly and correctly with clients and colleagues in order to extract and pass on all information pertinent to the incoming jobOther:Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace, contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environment.
