Designated Project Engineer (Civils)
Toronto

Up to $150k depending on years of experience

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Designated Project Engineer with a strong background in Civil Engineering to join our dynamic team. As a Designated Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of civil engineering projects, ensuring successful project delivery within budget and specified timelines. Your expertise will be crucial in coordinating project teams, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage civil engineering projects from inception to completion, including planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Design and Planning: Develop project plans, including feasibility studies, concept designs, and technical specifications. Collaborate with architects, designers, and other professionals to ensure effective project implementation.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Prepare project budgets, monitor expenses, and manage resources efficiently to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with clients, contractors, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met, and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable regulations. Conduct regular inspections and oversee testing procedures to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Monitor project risks throughout the lifecycle and take necessary actions to minimize their impact on project timelines and outcomes.
  • Team Coordination: Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, including engineers, technicians, and support staff. Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare accurate and comprehensive project reports, progress updates, and documentation. Maintain project records, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence.


Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering project management, preferably in infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using engineering software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools. Strong knowledge of relevant civil engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in managing complex civil engineering projects from start to finish. Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address project-related challenges effectively.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership qualities to inspire and motivate project teams, foster teamwork, and deliver results.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet project deadlines.
  • Professional Certification: Possession of relevant professional certifications or licenses is desirable (e.g., Professional Engineer certification).
